Aquarius is a mix of real and fictional characters from the Los Angeles, California area circa 1967. It centers around LAPD detective Sam Hodiak and Charles Manson whose real criminal career culminated with a conviction in the Tate and LaBianca murders. The show mixes facts and fiction for dramatic effect. It is a drama and not a documentary. For example, in 1952, a razor was used by one male to threaten another while Manson sodomized the victim. The three were in a minimum security detention facility. Manson was 17 at the time. In the first episode of Aquarius, “Charlie” threatens a man with a razor and attempts to rape him.
